Community Baptist Church
A Voice in the Wilderness was the beginning vison of Community Baptist Church. Where the word of God would be a guide to the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.
In 1946 Community Baptist Church was established by the late Pastor Reverend W.S. Woods, who also served as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, Ca. Reverend Woods appointed Reverend A.R. Prince to serve as Interim-Pastor.
The Charter Members were: Deacon E. Morrison, Deacon B. Nicholson, Deacon N. Bowie, Deacon W. C. Jackson, Mother Anna Nicholson, Mother Sarad Bowie, Sister Amanda Pratt, Sister Elnora Johnson, And Sister Mildred Jackson.
In the early 1960"s Community Baptist moved from Poinsettia and Willow Pass Road in West Pittsburg, CA to it's Present Location.
During various stages of growth Community Baptist experienced several changes in leadership/ However from 1980 to 2000, the Reverend Christopher B. Stewart served as Pastor. Under his leadership, Youth Ministries, Deacon's Committees, and an Adult and Youth Choir were established, as well as construction of a new Pastor's office and Fellowship Hall.
After his retirement, Community Baptist Church experienced changes in leadership. Through many hardships and sacrifices, dedicated members pressed on with a continued faith in God, and n April 2007, Reverend Ronald Dillingham was called to Pastor. Under Pastor Dillingham's leadership, Community Baptist Church has established a daily feeding program for the homeless, New Members class, Evangelism instructions, enhanced Bible Study, Sunday School Classes, and various other ministries.
With a heart for God and the people of God, Community Baptist Church, with the help of the Lod, and the supply of the Holy Spirit, seeks to empower believers to grow in the Grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our mission is to bring people to Christ, build them up in Christ, and send them out for Christ.
